I've never played a tabletop RPG (or even known anyone who has), but if it's an
RPG, it's good with me. Current favorites are FF:Tactics, Suikoden III, and
Xenogears. I only wish my Suikoden disc didn't have a scratch on it, I can't
get past Geddoe's Chapter 1 or Hugo's Chapter 2....... XO
Quote: About ffvi, do you reach to
the opera? if so, what do you think of it? I played FFVI in a SNES emulator an
beleive me, what they achieve with that little sound capabilities was awesome,
besides the story is just great.
I have seen the Opera scene. You're absolutely right, it is one of the greatest
scenes in any FF ever. However, VII was not without its own moving scene - the
death of Aeris. By contrast, the best VIII had was when you rescue Rinoa from
that prison in Esthar. I think that the dance scene near the beginning of VIII
was trying to emulate the Opera scene, but while it was a perfectly good FMV,
there's no way the two can even be compared.
Quote: I forget to make a
clarification about something I read in a message a couple of days ago, here I
go, Before ffvii the numeration of the games on
the US and Japanese version is different, so the FFVI was know in US as
"Final Fantasy III", please correct me if I'm wrong, but I
beleive the first FF released in US was FFIV under the name of "Final
Fantasy", so FFV was the US's ffii.
For this explanation, I will be using Arabic numerals (1, 5) to make absolutely
sure nobody misunderstands. In the future I will use Roman numerals (I, V). IN
the US, Final Fantasy (the first) was released as normal, for the NES. Final
Fantasy 2 and 3, the real ones, were never released in the US (although 2 was
released as part of FF: Origins on PlayStation). Both were also NES games.
Final Fantasy 4 was the first FF to hit the Super NES, and it was released
Stateside misleadingly as Final Fantasy 2. FF5 was not released Stateside
(until FF: Chronicles, also PS). FF6 was released Stateside, the last of the
SNES Final Fantasies, but like 4 it also was mis-titled, being released in the
States under the name 'Final Fantasy 3'. Whenever I refer to FF's, I always
refer to them by their actual number. So, if I ever say 'ff3', I mean 'FF3j'
and not 'ff6'.

Fantasy Fans Group Hope
we get fun together talking about FF and sharing images and info. Just to know,
which is your favorite FF?
For plot I'd say seven beyond doubt. Six might be a contender, but I'm not far
enough along in it to be able to judge. As for battle systems, Tactics and X-2
both kick. Active Time is fun and all, but I'm sort of disillusioned with it
since it changed more or less none at all from 4 all the way to 9. The fact
that the plots and characters were cool allowed me to love all of those games,
but I've never been very happy with the almost total lack of meaningful change
in gameplay throughout essentially the entire series. They tried some changes
in 8, for which I gladly give them props, but then I'm forced to take most of
them away again because they were poorly thought out and made the game a hell of
a lot less awesome than it could have been. Then they went back to bland
sameness with 9 (I think the biggest reason that I forgave them for that game
was because they brought back the old-school victory dance). After that though,
they actually started making an honest effort to revitalize the series. X had
changes, but not many, and they were mostly good. X-2 had even more, and while
I haven't played very much of that game (lack of time), all of the changes I've
liked. Most especially the new, improved, not-made-out-of-cardboard Yuna, but I
digress. As I've said, I haven't played XI, but if MMO-ness isn't a gameplay
change then by God nothing is. I have nothing but high hopes for both XII and
Dirge of Cerberus. But for me, overall, VII wins, followed closely by Tactics.
Seven took the exact same gameplay as its predecessors (more or less), and
somehow made it not just not feel overused, but actually kick ass. Add in one
of the greatest stories in the series (I'll once again mention that I haven't
played enough of six to get a good feel for the plot so that I don't get yelled
at), a set of all but one awesome characters (and even Cait Sith does have
redeeming qualities, 'cause Reeve is cool), and you've got a sure-fire winner.
Tactics takes second place because even though its plot was completely fubar
[F***ed Up Beyond All Recognition], it had the singe greatest incarnation of the
Job system EVAR and also the best battle system of any FF evar. And it had
Orlandu. It makes me proud to know that I share a name with the Thunder God.
(My name, RamzaSedai, is based off of a fanfic character that is me, whose full
name is Cid Ramza Krynydy. Don't ask where the last name came from, 'cause I
have no clue.) I hope that that was a significantly more detailed and
long-winded answer than you ever expected. Kore kara, yoroshiku ne!
I suppose I might be qualified to join the dignified ranks of the Singles Club
as well. I haven't dated in over a year, ever since my girlfriend made it
absolutely clear to me without ever saying a word that I did not exist in her
eyes. Took me six months to realize that she didn't care about me, and four
more to get over her. So Cyanide, I definitely know what you're talking about.
Plus, I have the added disadvantage of being extremely shy, so one of the things
that I am worst at is meeting other people. I actually get along with the
fairer sex better than my own (I have five male friends, and about eight or ten
female, and of the female friends not a one goes to the same school as me), but
now that I'm in college I have such a hard time meeting people that that doesn't
exactly help. I mean, I meet people in classes through group work and projects
and stuff, but they're generally have nothing whatsoever in common with me. I
could specifically go to places where there are people that have things in
common with me, like the school anime club, but the one time I tried that I
realized that everyone there is even geekier than me, and I felt intimidated by
it so I didn't come back. Heh, I guess I made something of a speech myself.
Hope I didn't bore you. In any case, I'll just say kore kara yoroshiku na!
I'd like to join this group too. I'm a musician (horn and clarinet), and I
listen to all kinds of music except rap, country and boy bands, although my
favorites are European symphonic metal (Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Luca Turilli,
Falconer, to name a few) and anime music (most especially the works of Kanno
Youko, Kajiura Yuki, and Tanaka Kouhei).
I've played every game that carries the Final Fantasy name except for FFT:A (I
don't have a GBA), FFXI (I don't have that kind of time, being a college
student), and the abomination whose name shall not be mentioned, and I love them
all. (if you don't know, what I'm talking about, it was for SNES and is the
only FF other than tactics to not carry a number.) Please take me! ^_^
I feel it worth mentioning that if you don't have any of the games and haven't
already, check out http://www.hongfire.com
. Their BT tracker has all kinds of wonderful stuff on it, including but by no
means limited to all of the Type-Moon games that I'm currently aware of, CG
packs, etc., etc. It's a primarily h-site (sensible since they're technically
h-games), but it's a really great place. And, if they don't have something that
you want, they have request forums where you can ask for it! So go there, it's
worth your time.
Mind if I join up here? I believe I'm more than enough of an ecchi lover to be eligible, so I'd be honored to join these honorable ranks.
